Oh, it’s been talked about for so long. The question is commonly asked: How much longer will this whole CatOS thing continue. Well finally there is a date – no more screaming from customers stating they just can’t let it(CatOS) go. Cisco is ready to put it to sleep…

Goodbye to using session slot 15/16 to configure layer3 stuff
and all the other many quirks that I disliked about CATOS.

Now if we could just get the hardware folks to gut all the suff out that was designed around Layer2/3 separation. It would be very nice to have one flash per supervisor and one memory bank per supervisor.
